On February 20, 1942, the Munemitsu family and 125,000 other Japanese Americans were ordered by Presidential Executive Order #9066 to leave their homes and be sent to the Poston Incarceration Camp in early 1942, in the midst of WWII. This is the story of their journey from their Westminster, CA farm…and eventually home again. Utilizing a unique animation style that evokes the hand-made toys and objects made in the camp paired with archival materials and footage from the historic location of the camp, the film explores the dichotomy between the innocence of a child's perspective and the traumatic injustice surrounding them.

Director/Producer Brendan Bubion has a passion for telling stories in local communities that often go untold or unseen. He has produced and created short documentaries about community organizations. His previous films include “Con Su Pluma en Su Mano,” about the life and work of LA Times journalist Gustavo Arellano. He graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and taught filmmaking at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. He recently completed his MFA in Documentary Filmmaking at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University. His resume includes Digital Video Producer at KCET in Los Angeles and lead producer of their new Weekly Arts series.
