For this month, I’m sharing The Zest of Orange Coast magazine’s interview of Glenn and Kenny Tanaka, father/son duo and the owners of the family-owned-and-operated Tanaka Farms in Irvine, CA. They run an authentic working 30-acre farm that produces and sells a variety of fruits and vegetables, as well as provide educational tours. I went to Saturday Japanese School with Glenn as kids (meant we didn’t have to work on Saturday mornings during the school year). Our family farms were near each other in Westminster/Fountain Valley. This is a great story of a family farm from Issei to Nisei, Sansei, and now Yonsei and what it takes to not only farm, but create an educational experience for the community.
